it’s all in the details

I’ve always been a firm believer that the little details make an outfit. Whether you’ve added the perfect accessory, pair of shoes or pop of color, little touches go a long way. Without fail, when I see an outfit I love on Pinterest or Instagram its because of the details. I first realized this when I was a nurse–a cute headband and my stethoscope charm were my go-tos. As my work transitioned to an office, so did my wardrobe.

I find that I’m drawn towards many of the same things in riding outfits. I love different jacket silhouettes, unique fabric textures and most of all I love patterns.

Oxford: Personally Preppy. Can anyone tell that I love patterns on cuffs? Well, this shirt is no exception. The little pops of pattern on the collar and cuffs are the perfect detail to this otherwise pretty simple outfit. The great things about details are that they can be as loud or a subtle as you’d like. I’m more of a subtle type of girl (at least when it comes to clothes!)

Vest. JCrew Factory. I’ve had this vest forever and I’m always looking for new ways to wear it, including to the barn and to the office…on casual Fridays of course! My favorite details are the diamond shapes that are sewn into the vest to create a sort of texture to the fabric. Again, its subtle, but when paired with the with the oxford it creates a great contrast to the white structured fabric of the shirt while playing off of the pattern on the cuffs.

Breeches. Ariat. Ever since I can remember, these have always been my go to pair of tan breeches. I love the zipper detail on the front of these pants. It’s not much, but adds that little bit of extra something to the pants and the outfit!
